"About a dozen pedestrians are going about their business at the corner of Hornby and Dunsmuir when they suddenly begin to scatter in panic. Behind them, a newer-model Camaro rolls to a stop on the sidewalk as an apparent bystander runs at the vehicle and attempts to open the driver-side door."
Here is a street view, although I am not sure where exactly this happened

The National Post has video, it's worth checking out.

Sped down a sidewalk? It looks like he just drove down it to the road at a walking pace, then turned off onto the road. Around here there are a good number of sidewalks that are technically dual purpose and allow vehicles to access the buildings or private lots. This doesn't look any more hazardous.

To me it looked like he could have been going about 20-30, which would probably be enough to spook pedestrians.

I don't think it was even that fast based on how slowly he entered the frame and quickly stopped without bouncing the suspension. Around here service/delivery trucks wouldn't even give you a honk at that speed. You just sort of have to jump out of the way.

Very well, I am not familiar with the area where this occurred. We do have some access areas like that around here too, but it's mostly trucks who go down it and they go pretty slow.

Yeah, I don't recognize that part of Vancouver either and I go there from time to time... maybe I need a few drinks in order to recognize it.

Yeah I didn't recognize it either, I used to work at Demnan and Comox and take Dunsmuir everday.

I can never understand people who run up to cars and pull on the door handle, to me that's a quick way to get a bullet in your head if you fuck with the wrong person.
